The Department of Emergency Management activates shelters only during a hurricane or tropical storm. For the official list of open shelters, listen to local radio, follow DEM on social media, or call DEM on 438-7575.

Only 14 shelters have a bathroom suitable for people who use a wheelchair. The rest of the building may not be step-free — call ahead if you need to check.
