Get a Primary School Textbook Grant
Last updated on February 6th, 2026
Every academic year, children attending public and private primary schools are eligible for a $100 Barbados dollars textbook grant. The grant helps parents and guardians provide the textbooks and learning materials their children need for school.
Eligibility and Guidance
Parents or guardians can only register each child once per year.
Your completed form will be sent to the principal at the child’s school for approval. This means:
- if you have more than one child at the same school, you only need to complete one form to claim on behalf of each child.
- if you have children at different schools, you will need to complete separate forms.
If the child is currently receiving support through the Primary School Textbook Grant, you are not eligible to claim the Primary School Textbook Grant as well.
When to register
You can register at any time. If you register in June or July, the funds are more likely to be available before the new school year starts.
How to register
To register, you can complete the online form.
The form asks for:
- bank account information so the funds can be paid.
- the student’s name, ID number and class.
- the name of the child’s school and principal.
- the parent or guardian’s contact details.
After you’ve registered
The school will check that your child is eligible for the grant and that a grant has not already been claimed during the academic year. If the principal approves the application, the $100 Barbados dollar grant will be paid to the account you provided.
If you cannot complete the form online
You can get support by:
-
making an appointment at your child’s school.
-
visiting the Ministry of Educational Transformation at:
Elsie Payne Complex
Constitution Road
St.Michael
